Guinea’s National Meteorology Agency (ANM) has issued an orange alert over a heatwave expected to spread across the country until 18 November 2026. In its bulletin published on 4 November, the agency forecast that high temperatures would persist and intensify in some areas over the following 15 days.
Lower Guinea, Upper Guinea and several areas of Middle Guinea have experienced abnormally high daytime and nighttime temperatures since the beginning of October, according to the ANM. The agency warned that the heat could cause dehydration and faintness, among other effects, and recommended drinking regularly and favouring shaded, ventilated or air-conditioned spaces. The bulletin remains valid until 6am on 19 November.
The weather alert comes after several warnings related to severe weather in Guinea, including an alert over heavy rain and flooding published on 22 September, followed by an alert over the risk of lightning and flooding on 30 September.
