The Court for the Repression of Economic and Financial Offences has ordered the appearance of Guinea’s central bank governor, Karamo Kaba, and former deputy governor Abdoulaye Yéro Baldé in the case involving 3 tonnes 135 kg of gold. The prosecution wants to clarify the contract with Affinor and the legal dispute in Belgium, Guinéenews reports.
The appearance of Karamo Kaba is expected in particular to shed light on the legal proceedings brought by Guinea in Belgium against Affinor, according to the special prosecutor’s submissions. Abdoulaye Yéro Baldé’s hearing is to focus on the circumstances surrounding the conclusion of the contract with the company.
At the hearing, former BCRG governor Louncény Nabé defended the legality of the agreement concluded with Affinor and rejected the accusations against him. The Court adjourned the continuation of the proceedings until 23 November 2026. The hearing came the day after Louncény Nabé’s defence regarding the origin of the 3.135 tonnes of gold at Affinor, published by Guinéenews on 4 November.
