Guinean Transport Minister Ousmane Gaoual Diallo said road accidents had already claimed 251 victims in 2026. On a tour of Kindia, he called on authorities, unions and transport operators to strengthen prevention and compliance with registration and insurance requirements, Guinéenews reports.

Road accidents have claimed 251 victims in Guinea since the beginning of 2026, Transport Minister Ousmane Gaoual Diallo said during a tour of Kindia. The minister met administrative and security authorities, unions and road transport professionals to strengthen prevention, according to Guinéenews.

Ousmane Gaoual Diallo reminded transport operators of the obligation to register and insure vehicles travelling on the roads. He also called on the stakeholders concerned to step up their efforts ahead of the end-of-year festivities.

Komoro Mohamed, head of Kindia's regional land transport office, set the goal of making the region a “zero-accident zone” by 2027. The local authorities therefore wish to mobilise road users around caution and road safety.
