Ghana has opened an investigation into the explosion in Hamile, on the border with Burkina Faso, Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak Mohammed told Parliament on Tuesday. The investigation is to establish the circumstances of the incident and guide the government’s next measures, according to the minister, quoted by 3News.

Muntaka Mubarak Mohammed said it was premature to draw conclusions about the cause of the explosion. He said the Ghana Immigration Service would communicate verified developments and that security agencies were co-operating to examine the facts. The explosion killed one immigration officer and seriously injured another, according to 3News.

The investigation comes on the day the authorities imposed a curfew in Hamile, after an explosion that killed three people and injured 10, according to figures published on 3 November.
