The vehicle, known as “Cheikhou Charifou”, left the road before hitting shrubs and overturning. The causes of the accident have yet to be established, although the circumstances could suggest excessive speed.
The six most seriously injured people were taken by firefighters to Amadou Sakhir Mbaye Hospital in Louga. The other victims received treatment, while gendarmes secured the scene and began their investigations. The accident comes after several road accidents recently reported in Senegal, including the collision in Kébémer that brought the death toll to nine on 24 October, and the Senegalese minister’s visit to victims in Louga on the same day: the Kébémer accident and the minister’s visit to victims.
