Morocco’s head of government, Fatima Zahra El Mansouri, defended several regional integration projects backed by Morocco in Moscow on Thursday during the third Russia-Africa summit. She cited the Atlantic African states initiative, the royal project aimed at facilitating Sahel countries’ access to the Atlantic Ocean and the Nigeria-Morocco Atlantic African gas pipeline, according to L’Information.

According to Morocco’s head of government, these projects should help open up landlocked territories, build modern infrastructure and promote shared development, particularly in West Africa. El Mansouri represented King Mohammed VI at the summit’s plenary session.

Her remarks came a day after Mohammed VI was represented at the Russia-Africa summit, announced on 28 October. Fatima Zahra El Mansouri became Morocco’s head of government on 29 September.
