Morocco and China inaugurated a China-Africa Research Centre dedicated to public governance in Rabat on Wednesday 28 October. Located at Morocco’s National School of Administration (ENA), it is intended to promote knowledge exchanges and research on governance across the continent, reports ANG.
The centre’s creation was formalised by an agreement signed by Nada Biaz, director of the ENA, and Ye Hailin, president of the China-Africa Institute. China’s ambassador to Morocco, Yu Jinsong, said it was the first Sino-African research centre in North Africa.
The agreement provides for fundamental and applied research on governance, administrative modernisation and socioeconomic development. It also includes executive training in Morocco and China for civil servants and public officials.
For Nada Biaz, the partnership should support the renewal of the ENA’s training programmes and the development of research, while promoting exchanges between researchers, trainers and public servants. The structure aims to bring Chinese and African institutions together on joint scientific projects.
