The Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company and the Tunisian Agency for Technical Cooperation have temporarily suspended their websites after a global cybersecurity vulnerability was discovered. The preventive measures aim to protect systems and users’ data, according to statements by the two Tunisian bodies relayed by Webdo.

The Tunisian Agency for Technical Cooperation (ATCT), a public body responsible for Tunisia’s international cooperation, suspended access to its website on Friday 23 October 2026 because of a cybersecurity vulnerability reported worldwide. The measure is intended to protect its computer systems and users’ data, according to an ATCT statement published on Facebook.

The Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG), Tunisia’s state-owned utility, had taken a similar decision on Thursday 22 October. The two bodies plan to restore their websites when security conditions allow, Webdo reports.

The vulnerability concerns PHP2Shell, a set of critical vulnerabilities in the PHP language used to operate many websites. Authorities and companies in several countries temporarily disabled certain services on 21 and 22 October after millions of exploitation attempts were reported, according to Webdo.

The statements from the ATCT and STEG make no mention of a confirmed cyberattack against their systems or a data breach, Webdo reports.
