The US Central Command has prepared several strike scenarios targeting sites in Iran, without an attack order from the White House at this stage. The options were presented to Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, while Tehran promises a stronger response, according to The Hill.
The US military command for the Middle East, CENTCOM, has prepared several strike scenarios against sites in Iran that could be carried out with White House authorisation. The US outlet The Hill reports that the options were presented to Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth.
No strike order has been announced. Donald Trump said on Saturday 24 October that attacks could take place “perhaps tomorrow”, without specifying a timetable, while also referring to the possibility of an agreement with Tehran. According to the Wall Street Journal, the US president favours resuming operations but has not given his final approval.
The scenarios under consideration reportedly include strikes against nuclear facilities, infrastructure and islands controlled by Iran, according to information reported by the Wall Street Journal. Brent crude closed at $116.72 a barrel on Friday, amid tensions around the Strait of Hormuz. The preparations extend Trump’s threats to intensify the US offensive, reported on 25 October, after he referred to a new attack against Iran on 23 October.
