Hezbollah, an Iran-backed Lebanese armed movement, has spent the past three months rebuilding its military capabilities in preparation for a possible resumption of hostilities with Israel, according to Lebanese security officials cited by TimesLIVE. The group is focusing its efforts on buying explosives and manufacturing drones intended to strike Israeli positions.
Two Lebanese security sources said Tehran had given Hezbollah tens of millions of dollars to strengthen its military apparatus. This aid comes in addition to about $200 million intended for displaced families in the movement’s Shia strongholds, according to TimesLIVE.
Hezbollah is also restoring its command and control structures, which were damaged during the fighting. Its media office rejected the idea that these structures had collapsed and said Israel’s occupation of Lebanese territory justified the resistance.
Large-scale fighting has decreased since the summer in southern Lebanon, despite the continuation of deadly Israeli strikes. This reorganisation comes as tensions between the United States, Israel and Iran have intensified, with several US threats of military action against Tehran already reported on 23 October, 24 October and in the following days.
