Chris Brown given suspended eight-month sentence in UK

US singer Chris Brown has received an eight-month suspended prison sentence in the UK after admitting an offence linked to a fight at a London nightclub in 2023. He will only be imprisoned if he commits another offence during the suspension period, Citizen reports.

US singer Chris Brown was sentenced by a British court on Monday to eight months in prison, suspended for one year, for a fight in a London nightclub in 2023. He had pleaded guilty to assault, Citizen reports.

The sentence will not send him to prison unless he commits another offence during this period. Judge Tony Baumgartner described the incident as serious because of the risk it created for people in a crowded venue. The charges concerned an attack in which Brown allegedly struck the victim twice on the head with a glass bottle.

The incident took place on 19 February 2023 at Tape, a private club in London, while Brown was touring the UK. The victim was then allegedly pursued, struck and beaten. His guilty plea avoided a trial on several other charges, including attempting to cause serious bodily harm with intent and possessing a bottle as an offensive weapon.
