Libya’s two rival governments have condemned remarks by Donald Trump, who cited Libya among countries whose migrants would enter the United States during a rally in Georgia. Libya’s two rival governments have condemned remarks made by Donald Trump about several countries, including Libya, at an election rally on Saturday in Georgia. The US president described those states as “shithole countries” and countries “infested with terrorists”, according to TSA.
The Tripoli-based Government of National Unity, led by Abdelhamid Al Dabaiba and recognised by a large part of the international community, said it rejected the idea that “the dignity of Libya and its people should be a subject of electoral controversy”. It also recalled the sacrifices made by Libyans in the fight against terrorism, according to a statement reported by the Libyan news agency Lana.
In Benghazi, the government led by Osama Saad Hamad denounced “offensive” remarks about the Libyan state and its people. It contrasted Libya’s millennia-old history with the recent creation of the United States and also raised the Epstein case with Donald Trump, according to TSA.
