The Faso Food and Drug Administration has suspended the manufacture and sale of four Cyclone products after sildenafil, an undeclared medicinal substance, was detected in them. The measure concerns all batches and comes with a call to stop consuming them, according to Faso FDA.

The Faso Food and Drug Administration (Faso FDA), Burkina Faso’s agency for monitoring health products, has suspended the manufacture and sale of four products in the “Cyclone” range after detecting sildenafil, a medicinal substance used to treat erectile dysfunction. The products concerned are Cyclone classique, Cyclone retard, Cyclone sirop and Cyclone poudre, according to Lefaso.net.

The presence of sildenafil is not mentioned on the labelling, although the products are presented as “100% natural” drinks or food supplements. Faso FDA says the substance poses particular risks to people suffering from cardiovascular diseases or hypertension, older people and those taking nitrate derivatives.

The suspension concerns all batches, regardless of their date of manufacture or place of purchase. Faso FDA is asking wholesalers, shops, kiosks and online sellers to remove the products from their stocks, quarantine them and follow recovery operations carried out by its inspection teams, Lefaso.net reports.

The agency is also calling on consumers to stop consuming these products immediately and to consult a health centre in case of chest pain, discomfort, severe dizziness, a sudden loss of sight or hearing, or a painful erection lasting more than four hours. The measure comes one day after the ban on DengueMed, an unauthorised treatment for dengue, announced on 6 November 2026.
