Aliou Bah, president of the Liberal Democratic Movement (MoDeL), has submitted a memorandum on prison reform to Guinea's Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, accompanied by a training programme on civic responsibility, citizenship and social reintegration. The document was handed over at a ceremony marking the end of his period in detention, according to Mosaïqueguinee.com.
The memorandum notably proposes improving detention conditions, strengthening respect for the fundamental rights and dignity of people deprived of their liberty, and reviewing the functioning of the prison administration, according to a MoDeL official quoted by Mosaïqueguinee.com. The training programme aims to prepare detainees for their return to society.
The memorandum was submitted after Aliou Bah's release, announced on 6 November. MoDeL had then thanked supporters of the political leader following his release from detention.
