Guinean striker Serhou Guirassy is out of the two AFCON 2027 qualifiers against Eritrea because of a thigh injury confirmed by medical examinations. His unavailability is estimated at between four and six weeks, depriving coach Paolo Duarte of his centre-forward, according to Foot224 cited by Guinee7.
Guinean striker Serhou Guirassy, who plays for Borussia Dortmund, is out of the Syli National's double clash with Eritrea in the 3rd and 4th matchdays of the AFCON 2027 qualifiers. Medical examinations carried out on Thursday confirmed a thigh injury, with an unavailability estimated at between four and six weeks, according to Foot224, cited by Guinee7.
The absence deprives Guinean coach Paolo Duarte of his main attacking asset for these two fixtures in the qualifying campaign. The Guinean Football Federation has not yet officially announced the withdrawal or indicated whether another player will be called up as a replacement.
Guirassy had been on a run of notable performances: he gave Guinea victory in the previous qualifying match, on 3 October, and took his Champions League goal tally to 23 on 21 October. He was, however, among the absentees from the list of ten nominees for the African Ballon d'Or, unveiled on 4 November.
