Pape Thiaw, former coach of Senegal’s national team, is among the ten coaches nominated for the men’s coach of the year award at the 2026 CAF Awards. The selection comes after Senegal’s Lions won the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, according to Senego.

The Senegalese coach said he was “deeply honoured” to be among the candidates for the third time in four years. He linked the nomination to self-belief, hard work, continuous progress and learning with humility in the service of African football, Senego reports.

Pape Thiaw joins, among others, Sébastien Desabre, coach of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, among the ten coaches in contention. The list is part of a series of nominations announced for the 2026 CAF Awards, including those of Adji Ndiaye among the ten nominated goalkeepers and Sébastien Desabre.
