South Africans Ronwen Williams, Khuliso Mudau and Teboho Mokoena are among the candidates for the 2026 CAF Awards after their club and international seasons. The ceremony will be held on 7 December in Lagos, while the South African team prepares for its 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, according to the South African Football Association.

Three South Africans are among the candidates for the 2026 CAF Awards: Ronwen Williams, goalkeeper for Mamelodi Sundowns, Khuliso Mudau, a defender at the same club, and Teboho Mokoena, a midfielder for the “Brazilians”. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) selected their performances for club and country with Bafana Bafana, according to the South African Football Association (SAFA).

Mamelodi Sundowns won the CAF Champions League by beating Morocco’s FAR Rabat 2-1 on aggregate in the two-legged final on 24 May 2026. The three players then contributed to South Africa’s campaign, which saw the team qualify for the second round of the 2026 World Cup, hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada, SAFA reports.

The CAF Awards ceremony will be held on 7 December 2026 in Lagos, Nigeria. CAF announced 10 candidates in each of the seven men’s categories, including player of the year, best goalkeeper, interclub player of the year, coach of the year and national team of the year, according to SAFA.

These nominations were announced on the same day as those of Cape Verde at the CAF Awards and Amad Diallo, the only Ivorian nominee, announced on 4 November 2026. South African coach Pitso Mosimane is also due to announce his final squad on 5 November for the two 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Kenya, scheduled for 13 and 17 November.
