Luanda is hosting the WTA Tour Angola Ladies Open from 2 to 8 November, an international women’s tennis tournament held on the courts of the Kikuxi Tennis Academy. Over seven days, the competition will bring together players of several nationalities and put Angola on the professional tennis calendar, reports Mercado.

The draw includes Kenya’s Angella Okutoyi, Burundi’s Sada Nahimana and Egypt’s Sandra Samir. The absence of Angolan players from the first list of participants highlights, according to Mercado, the need to strengthen training, technical support and national players’ access to international competitions.

The tournament is supported by the Visit Angola initiative, presented as its official sponsor on the competition’s portal. It follows two weeks of men’s events held at Kikuxi Villas Club, which hosted two M25 tournaments on the international circuit between 12 and 25 October, reports Mercado.
