Angola to host next Lusophone investment forum

Angola will host the next Lusophone Africa Investment Forum after the announcement by Ethiopis Tafara, the International Finance Corporation’s vice-president for Africa. The meeting will take place in Luanda after the edition held on Sal Island, Cape Verde, reports Mercado.

Angola will host the next edition of the Lusophone Africa Investment Forum, Ethiopis Tafara, IFC vice-president for Africa, announced on 29 October 2026. Luanda will succeed Sal Island, Cape Verde, where the forum’s second edition was held, according to Mercado.

The meeting organised in Cape Verde brought together more than 420 participants, including government officials, representatives of international financial institutions and business leaders. Discussions focused on financing agricultural value chains and logistics, sustainable tourism, as well as connectivity and the energy transition.

The Angolan delegation presented a target of mobilising more than $2 billion in private investment, notably for the Lobito Corridor and projects in agriculture and tourism. The focus on the Lobito Corridor is part of the economic diversification and foreign capital attraction strategy promoted by the Angolan government.

The IFC says it has historically invested or mobilised more than $700 million in African countries where Portuguese is an official language. Holding the next forum in Angola is expected to promote new partnerships between international investors and companies from these economies, according to Mercado.
