Two attackers were killed by Operation Enduring Peace troops after the Sabon Angwa attack in Plateau State left four dead. The military is pursuing fleeing suspects, according to operation spokesperson Captain Polycarp Oteh, quoted by Leadership.
Two members of the armed group that attacked the Sabon Angwa community in the Barkin Ladi local government area were killed by troops from Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), Captain Polycarp Oteh, the operation’s information and media officer, told Leadership. The soldiers tracked the attackers to a village, where they opened fire before coming under military fire. Other suspects fled.
The attack on Thursday night left four people dead in Sabon Angwa, near Bet/Zat, despite the curfew in force in some parts of Plateau State, according to Leadership. The attackers opened fire on residents at about 8pm, causing panic in the community. Security forces are continuing their search to arrest the fleeing suspects, according to Captain Polycarp Oteh.
The operation follows several incidents involving security forces in Plateau State, including the arrest of a fake soldier suspected of theft on 27 October. It also follows reported tensions between the army and police over an intervention in the state on 26 October.
