Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered a full investigation into the killing of Muslim preacher Sheikh Yahaya Masussuka and his close associate Adamu Abubakar in Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State. Local police say gunmen killed them outside the preacher’s home on Monday evening, Aminiya reports.

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has ordered a full investigation into the killing of Muslim preacher Sheikh Yahaya Masussuka and his close associate Adamu Abubakar, who were killed by gunmen on Monday in Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State. The order was announced in a condolence message issued by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, Aminiya reports.

Katsina police said the two men were shot at about 7.30pm outside the preacher’s home in the Dutsin-Ma local government area. They were taken to a nearby hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Masussuka’s secretary said he was leaving his home to go to the place where he usually gave his teachings.

Tinubu called for those involved to be identified and prosecuted. The instruction follows a call by the Katsina governor for an investigation into the killing of the preacher. The armed group Ansaru has also claimed responsibility for the killing of Yahaya Masussuka in Nigeria.
