Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has asked the police and other security services to arrest those responsible for killing Muslim preacher Sheikh Yahaya Ibrahim Masussuka and his friend Adamu Abubakar. The two men were killed by gunmen in Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State, on Monday evening, according to a presidential spokesman quoted by Vanguard.

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has ordered the police and security services to arrest those responsible for the murder of Muslim preacher Yahaya Ibrahim Masussuka and his friend Adamu Abubakar, who were killed by gunmen in Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State. He asked law-enforcement agencies to step up searches already launched by the state police, according to his spokesman Bayo Onanuga, quoted by Vanguard.

The two men were killed on Monday evening in an attack launched from a vehicle. Tinubu condemned the murder, describing it as a “heinous act”, and offered his condolences to the families, the preacher’s followers and the residents of Katsina State.

The federal intervention came after the governor of Katsina called for an investigation into the preacher’s murder on 27 October, and after the attack’s death toll was published on 26 October. The governor of Katsina had called for an investigation, while an earlier report covered a Muslim preacher and a visitor killed in Nigeria.
