Three road accidents in Lagos killed four people and injured seven on Wednesday, according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency. In the most serious, a truck carrying a container overturned onto a minibus after a collision on the Ibeju-Lekki Expressway, Pmnewsnigeria reports.

Three road accidents killed four people and injured seven on Wednesday in Lagos, according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA). The most serious accident occurred at Berger Bridge, towards Eleko, on the Ibeju-Lekki Expressway, when a truck carrying a 20-foot container overturned onto an inter-state Toyota Hiace bus. The four victims, all adult men, died at the scene and six other men were injured, LASEMA Permanent Secretary Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu said.

Initial findings indicate that the truck was travelling at excessive speed as it climbed the bridge and its driver lost control while trying to avoid the bus. LASEMA, the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Nigerian police took the injured to Epe General Hospital. A private crane was expected to clear the overturned truck and container, while traffic management measures were put in place.

The other two incidents involved a truck that struck a solar streetlight near Vetland School, on Old Abeokuta Road, and an accident at Lanre Bus Stop, on the LASU-Igando route. The first, attributed to reckless driving, caused no casualties, according to Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu. The accidents come after a tanker killed five children in Gombe and a crash involving the Niger State governor’s convoy, both reported on 27 October in Nigeria.
