A collision between a commercial tricycle and a water tanker killed four people and injured two in Gombe, including two children. According to local Federal Road Safety Corps official Samson Kaura, the tricycle hit the tanker from behind near the Kanani Academy junction, Punch reports.

Four people, including two children, were killed on Tuesday in a collision between a commercial tricycle and a water tanker in Gombe, north-eastern Nigeria, Punch reports. The local commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Samson Kaura, said the tricycle had hit the tanker from behind, according to testimonies gathered at the scene.

Two other people were injured, Kaura said, adding that Federal Road Safety Corps teams had not taken part in the rescue effort because the alert reached them late. His officers nevertheless went to the hospitals where the victims had been taken. Those involved included pupils from three schools in Gombe.

The death toll of four differs from that of a tanker accident in Gombe in which five children were killed, according to a report published on 27 October. Tanker kills five children in Gombe.
