Six residents were abducted at dawn on Tuesday from Nuru Suraj Estate, in Millennium City, Kaduna State, reports the newspaper Leadership. Soldiers who intervened quickly rescued some of the captives, according to a resident, Maman Hamid, quoted by the newspaper.
The attackers entered the estate through a second gate before fleeing after the military intervention. The number of people rescued and the fate of the other abducted residents had not been established when the report was published, Leadership reports.
The latest operation comes after the abduction on 6 October of Ahmed Abubakar Zakka, his wife and their six-month-old baby in Millennium City. It also follows the arrest announced on 12 October of eight suspected kidnappers and four people suspected of providing them with information, during operations around Millennium City and Maraban Rido. Law enforcement officers seized AK-47 rifles at the time, according to Leadership.
