Sierra Leone's Parliament summons all MPs on 9 November 2026 in Freetown for a pre-legislative hearing on three bills: creating an agency for veterans, an explosives regulatory authority and a mental health act. The step is intended to allow lawmakers to examine and amend the texts before their formal reading, according to a notice from the Office of the Clerk of Parliament.
The Office of the Clerk of Sierra Leone's Parliament summoned MPs to a pre-legislative hearing on Monday 9 November 2026 at 10am, in Committee Room One of the Parliament Building in Freetown, according to an official public notice. Lawmakers will examine three bills: the 2026 bill on the Agency for veterans, the National Explosives Regulatory Authority bill and the mental health bill.
The hearing is an upstream scrutiny step that allows MPs to debate the texts and amend their content before they proceed to formal readings. Discussions will focus in particular on veterans' social protection, the regulation of explosives and the organisation of mental health services in the country.
The clerk strongly urged parliamentarians to attend on time. The hearing's conclusions could lead to clarification or amendment of provisions in the three bills before their consideration by the House.
