Unable to find an available stadium, the Sierra Leone Football Association obtained CAF approval to host DR Congo in El Jadida, Morocco, on 17 November 2026, after Congo rejected moving the match forward to the 16th.

Sierra Leone will host the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) on 17 November in El Jadida, Morocco, in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers, as it is unable to play at home because its national facilities are unavailable, Africa Top Sports reports. The match will be played at a neutral venue, with the Leone Stars facing the Leopards.

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) had initially considered hosting the match in Conakry, Guinea, and then in Liberia, but stadiums in both neighbouring countries had already been booked for the same dates. The SLFA then asked the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to bring the match forward by one day, to 16 November 2026: DR Congo opposed the move, insisting on the date set by CAF so as not to disrupt its preparation schedule.

With no other option in the sub-region on that date, Sierra Leone turned to Morocco, where the match will be played in the coastal city of El Jadida. The fixture is decisive for qualification for the 2027 AFCON.
