Twenty-one-year-old defender Massiré Sylla joins Senegal's national team for the first time to replace Mamadou Sarr, who is unavailable for the two-match tie against Sudan. The Union Saint-Gilloise player has been called up for the two 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, according to wiwsport.

Massiré Sylla, a 21-year-old defender from Union Saint-Gilloise, has been called up for the first time by Senegal to replace Mamadou Sarr, who is unavailable for the two matches against Sudan in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Coach Patrick Vieira selected the young defender after Sarr withdrew with an injury to his left calf, reports wiwsport via SeneNews.

Mamadou Sarr, on loan from Chelsea to Real Sociedad, was injured on Thursday during the Europa League match against Olympique Lyonnais, which ended 1-1. Medical examinations revealed a muscular injury to the soleus muscle in his left leg, according to his club, and he will miss both matches against Sudan.

Born in Dakar on 7 January 2005 and trained at Diambars, Massiré Sylla later played in Norway with Lyn 1896, where he was named the best young player in the second division. He joined Union Saint-Gilloise on 13 January 2026 and is under contract there until June 2030, according to SeneNews.
