The Sierra Leone Football Association has launched its first national strategy dedicated to women’s football, a four-year framework to develop the game from youth teams to international level. President Babadi Kamara presented it on 28 October 2026 in Freetown at a ceremony attended by football officials and FIFA representatives, Sierra Loaded reports.
The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) launched a women’s football development strategy on Wednesday 28 October covering the next four years. Its president, Babadi Kamara, presented the first national framework at a ceremony at Freetown City Hall, Sierra Loaded reports.
The strategy aims to develop participation at every level, from grassroots football to international competitions, and expand opportunities for women and girls. The SLFA and FIFA also opened a three-day training workshop, from 28 to 30 October, for women’s football officials to strengthen their capacity to implement the programme.
Babadi Kamara called on the association to work with its partners to turn the strategy into concrete results. The ceremony brought together SLFA and National Sports Authority officials, as well as FIFA representatives from Zimbabwe and Botswana.
The launch comes as Sierra Leone’s women’s league began on 14 October, with FC Kallon beating VEM Buck 5-0 in the opening match.
