Three suspects linked to a suspected vehicle theft network have been arrested in Nanyuki, central Kenya, and a stolen Toyota Probox that was to be driven to Uganda has been recovered, according to the Kenyan Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). The suspects were arrested at Naiberi centre while travelling in the vehicle.
The three men are John Nderitu, alias Charles Muriuki, Peter Machoka Nyangau and Gedion Mutugi. According to the DCI, the vehicle had been stolen on the night of 3 to 4 November 2026 in Nanyuki and was destined for Uganda. The arrests follow a series of car thefts in the town and its surroundings, which prompted detectives to intensify their investigations into the suspected criminal network.
The three suspects are in custody and are due to appear before the Nanyuki court for vehicle theft, under section 278A of the Kenyan penal code, the DCI says. Detectives are pursuing further leads to identify and arrest the other suspected members of the network.
