Robert Kondema Kargbo, national deputy chairman of the Sierra Leone People's Party, has announced the construction of a fence around Regent cemetery in Freetown. The project is due to start in early 2027, according to Sierra Loaded.
National deputy chairman of the Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP), Robert Kondema Kargbo, announced on Friday 6 November 2026 the construction of a fence around Regent cemetery in Freetown to protect the site from waste dumping. The project is due to start in early 2027, Kargbo said during a cemetery clean-up operation, according to Sierra Loaded.
Kargbo called on households in Regent to contribute to funding the fence and said residents would be involved in protecting the site. He also proposed organising monthly clean-up operations at the cemetery, according to Sierra Loaded.
Friday's operation brought together Kargbo, All People's Congress (APC) presidential nomination candidate Ibrahim Bangura, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Regent residents. Volunteers removed overgrown vegetation, waste and debris from the cemetery, in an initiative Kargbo presented as collective work transcending political divisions, according to Sierra Loaded.
