Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Planning and Economic Development has asked non-governmental organisations to align their programmes with national priorities and measure their results. The instruction was issued during a monthly session bringing together government departments, organisations and media, with three organisations taking part, Sierra Loaded reports.

Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Planning and Economic Development has called on public institutions and non-governmental organisations to strengthen their cooperation to achieve measurable results for vulnerable communities. Dr Moi Kowa, director of the Service Delivery and Performance Management Division, made the call on Wednesday 4 November 2026 during the monthly information session for NGOs, according to the ministry.

Dr Moi Kowa asked organisations to focus their resources on the five national priorities grouped under the name “Big Five Game Changers”. The director of NGO Affairs, Eric Masallay, also encouraged them to communicate openly about their activities to strengthen their accountability and relations with public institutions, according to the ministry.

World Hope International, World Vision International Sierra Leone and We Are Purposeful presented their programmes in the areas of health, education, access to water and sanitation, child protection, inclusion of people with disabilities and women’s empowerment. Beneficiaries notably discussed difficulties accessing rehabilitation and therapies for children with health problems, as well as improved safety and school attendance through access to clean drinking water.
