The Redeemed Christian Church of God wants to launch youth development initiatives in Oyo, including free three-month technology training. Its national youth leader, Oluwafemi Oyetunde, discussed the project with state authorities, police and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, Tribune Online reports.

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), a Nigerian Pentecostal church, wants to establish a free three-month technology training programme in Oyo for around 10,000 young people. The project was presented by its national youth pastor, Oluwafemi Oyetunde, during a three-day visit to the state, according to Tribune Online.

The classes would combine online and in-person sessions. Victor Olojede, Oyo governor’s special adviser on student affairs, said the state government wanted to participate in the programme and that he would submit a memo to facilitate students’ participation, according to Tribune Online.

The RCCG delegation also met Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, the Oyo State commissioner of police. Oyetunde proposed cooperation on crime prevention and improving relations between young people and the police, while the commissioner stressed respect for the law and community policing.
