In Bizerte, the Youth Centre, attached to the National Office of Family and Population, continues its activities despite unfilled retirements, a lack of resources and a relocation project. The centre supports young people with reproductive health, prevention and training; La Presse de Tunisie describes a team reduced to one professional.

The Bizerte Youth Centre carries out around 1,200 female cancer screenings each year, nearly 1,500 awareness sessions on sexually transmitted infections and around 800 premarital check-ups. The centre, attached to the National Office of Family and Population, also offers training and cultural and sporting activities, La Presse de Tunisie reports.

More than 1,000 young people take part in technical workshops, 400 in vocational training and 350 in first-aid courses. The radio, robotics and gaming clubs bring together 200 young people, while 600 participate in sporting activities. Around 15 camps and exchanges are organised each year.

These activities are being maintained despite staff members retiring without being replaced, a lack of resources and a relocation project. The centre, located in an apartment on Tarek Ibn Ziyed Quay, is now run by a single professional, according to the Tunisian newspaper.
