Polisario challenges authorisations for Ryanair flights to Dakhla

The Polisario Front has announced legal action in Spain to have the authorisations allowing Ryanair to operate flights to Dakhla withdrawn. The airline is still selling the Madrid-Dakhla route, while the route from Lanzarote has disappeared from its programme, Bladi reports.

The Polisario Front has announced legal action before the Spanish courts against the authorisations granted to Ryanair for flights to Dakhla and is asking Madrid to withdraw them. The movement’s adviser Oubi Bouchraya Bachir presented the case on Monday 26 October in Madrid alongside lawyers Jacinto Lara and Eshaba Messaoud, according to a statement from the Polisario Front relayed by Bladi.

The challenge concerns in particular the Madrid-Dakhla route, which Ryanair is still selling for November, December and January, with a departure listed for Tuesday 27 October. The Lanzarote-Dakhla route, also cited by the movement, was discontinued in 2025. The Polisario is also considering taking the case to the European courts, according to Spanish daily Público.

The initiative comes four days after the Polisario threatened to leave the peace process in the Sahara, on 22 October. It extends the challenge to Ryanair’s routes and advertising, after the company presented Dakhla as Moroccan, as reported by Bladi on 16 October.
