Royal Air Maroc has taken delivery in Casablanca of a 15-year-old Embraer E190 leased from US company Azorra after its withdrawal from Kenya Airways in 2025. A second aircraft is expected, taking the Moroccan airline’s E190 fleet from four to six, an increase of 50%, according to Bladi.
Royal Air Maroc has taken delivery in Casablanca of an Embraer E190 leased from Azorra Aviation, the first of two aircraft planned under the agreement. Registered as CN-RIA, the aircraft arrived on Wednesday 21 October from Exeter in south-west England, according to Bladi.
The aircraft made its first flight in Brazil on 6 May 2011 and was operated by Kenya Airways until 2025. After being withdrawn from service in January 2025, it was parked in Nairobi and then in Poland before undergoing maintenance at Exeter Aerospace. A second E190, identified as CN-RHW, is expected to join the Moroccan fleet in 2026, according to Planespotters.
Royal Air Maroc already operates four E190s. The two aircraft leased from Azorra will bring the fleet to six, an increase of 50%. The airline now has 71 aircraft and aims to have 130 by 2030 and 200 by 2038, according to Bladi. Its fleet also includes 20 Boeing 737 MAX 8s after two deliveries on 25 and 30 September, according to NewsAero.
