Businessman and former Kasipul by-election candidate Philip Aroko has announced his bid for the Kibera parliamentary seat in Nairobi in the 2027 elections. He says he wants to improve access to water and school resources, according to Tuko.

Kenyan businessman and politician Philip Aroko has announced his bid for the Kibera parliamentary seat, in Nairobi, in the 2027 elections. He made the announcement on Saturday 24 October during a sports day at a school in the neighbourhood, in front of members of the Kibera Teachers Association, Tuko reports.

Born in Kasipul in western Kenya and later settled in Nairobi, Philip Aroko had previously declared his interest in the Kasipul seat under the UDA banner. In Kibera, he has pledged to address water shortages and a lack of school supplies, saying he would seek public funding without diverting resources from the constituency, according to Tuko.
