Four people rescued after a building under construction collapsed in Eastleigh, in the Kenyan capital Nairobi, are in hospital. Search operations continued in the rubble on Sunday, following the collapse on Friday on 9th Street, Kenyan police said, Capital FM reports.
Rescue teams and specialised equipment were deployed to search for any other possible victims. Police asked families seeking information about relatives to go to the Kenya Red Cross post set up at the site or call the emergency number 1199. They also urged the public to avoid Yusuf Haji Avenue and 9th Street to allow rescue workers to operate.
The collapse had already been the subject of several casualty reports: about 70 workers were at the site and one person was missing, according to information published on 24 October. A woman was rescued after the collapse on 23 October. Police said investigations into the circumstances of the accident were continuing.
