Parliamentarians from Eswatini and Lesotho proposed on Saturday examining measures to facilitate citizens’ travel between Eswatini, Lesotho and Botswana. The proposal was made during a meeting held at Thaba-Bosiu Cultural Village in Lesotho to strengthen cooperation between the three kingdoms, according to the Times of Eswatini.

Marwick Khumalo, president of the Eswatini branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and member of parliament for Lobamba Lomdzala, supported the idea if it brought concrete benefits to local people. He also called for the development of good neighbourly relations, friendship and solidarity between the countries of the sub-region. The association’s exchange programmes should enable parliamentarians to build relationships capable of strengthening cooperation between their countries, he explained.

The meeting followed the reception of Eswatini lawmakers by the Parliament of Lesotho, which had already brought representatives of the two kingdoms together.
