Olujuwon Obasanjo backs Tinubu’s re-election in 2027

Olujuwon Obasanjo, son of former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo, has joined a movement supporting Bola Tinubu and pledged to back his re-election in 2027. Appointed the group’s special adviser on political affairs, he praised its mobilisation activities and defended the continuation of the president’s reforms, according to Punch.

Olujuwon Obasanjo, son of former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo, has announced his support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 after joining the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement as special adviser in charge of political affairs, the Nigerian daily Punch reports.

He said on Wednesday, during a visit to the movement’s headquarters in Abuja, that he would contribute to grassroots mobilisation and the promotion of the government’s work. Olujuwon Obasanjo cited salary payments, infrastructure development and investment opportunities among the progress he wants to see continue. The movement’s national coordinator, Sunday Asuku, said that his political experience would strengthen the organisation’s activities.

Olujuwon Obasanjo also said that he had been a member of the All Progressives Congress since 2014. He added that members of his family could support different political choices without animosity.

His joining the movement comes after Atiku’s son backed Tinubu’s re-election on 31 October. It also follows statements in favour of a second term from the Nigerian Association of Livestock Farmers on 31 October, and then from south-east Nigeria and several governors on 1 November.
