Two men, Bukar Usman, 30, and Ladan Modu, 25, were arrested on 1 November in Benisheikh, in the Kaga area of Borno State, for their alleged involvement in providing intelligence to Boko Haram. Hybrid Force soldiers suspect them of providing information to the insurgents, according to security sources quoted by Zagazola Makama on 4 November.
The arrests followed several operations carried out by the same troops in Benisheikh in mid-October, which led to at least five people suspected of links with armed groups being detained. On 25 October, an ambush in the Kaga area also killed six suspected fighters from ISWAP and the JAS faction, according to Zagazola Makama.
In this region of north-eastern Nigeria, the allegations of collaboration notably concern the monitoring of convoys and military positions, according to the same sources. Operations are continuing as the Nigerian army recently reported several clashes with Boko Haram and ISWAP in Borno State, notably after a drone attack killed two soldiers on 2 November.
