Ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election, voters are highlighting lower living costs, security and a regular electricity supply among their main expectations. According to Vanguard, these concerns come amid rising energy costs, insecurity, unemployment and difficulties meeting basic needs.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, is seeking another term against, among others, former vice-president Atiku Abubakar, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, former Anambra governor Peter Obi and Oyo State governor Seyi Makinde. Vanguard says candidates are being called on to address concerns over inflation, poverty, employment and living conditions.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the body responsible for organising Nigeria’s elections, is among the institutions that have published the list of candidates for the 2027 presidential election, according to Vanguard.
