Nigeria’s Ashlee Momoh Foundation is asking the government to rescue 78 pupils abducted in Borno State and held for about 150 days. Its director, Ashlee Momoh, is calling for urgent military action and announcing a 21-day peaceful campaign in Abuja, according to a foundation statement.
The Ashlee Momoh Foundation has called on the Nigerian government to intensify operations to free 78 pupils abducted in the communities of Lassa and Mussa, in Askira-Uba, Borno State. Its director-general, Princess Ashlee Momoh, made the appeal in a statement in Abuja, as the children, some of them aged two, have reportedly been held for about 150 days, according to Leadership.
The pupils were abducted on 15 May from Mussa Primary and Secondary School and nearby homes. The foundation is calling for swift military action and their immediate return to their families, who have suffered severe emotional and psychological consequences for several months.
The foundation plans a peaceful 21-day campaign at Unity Fountain in Abuja to draw national and international attention to the children’s plight and demand their unconditional release. Ashlee Momoh called on Askira-Uba residents in the capital, civil society organisations and other Nigerian citizens to take part, according to Leadership.
