A free medical outreach in Kaduna by BATMEDICS, a support group for Nigerian President Bola Tinubu involved in health and humanitarian work, provided care to about 10,000 people in seven locations. Beneficiaries received eye screenings, treatment and surgery, according to BATMEDICS communications director Petra Akinti Onyegbule.

About 3,000 people received eye screenings and 212 underwent surgery. The programme targeted, among others, low-income residents facing the cost of care or living far from health facilities, according to BATMEDICS.

The organisation’s managing director, Dr Ojeje Onimisi, said the intervention combined prevention, early detection and treatment. The communications director also stressed the need to go beyond diagnosis to ensure access to care, according to Pmnewsnigeria.
