A Moroccan student returning from France must close the bank account opened for their studies and repatriate its balance to Morocco within 60 days of returning. The requirement stems from Article 146 of the 2026 General Instruction on Foreign Exchange Operations, according to the Office des Changes.
A Moroccan student returning to Morocco after a university stay in France has 60 days to repatriate the balance of a bank account opened abroad to fund their studies, according to the Office des Changes, cited by Bladi. The same deadline applies to closing the account and converting the remaining funds on the foreign exchange market.
The period begins on the date of the student’s return to Morocco, in accordance with Article 146 of the 2026 General Instruction on Foreign Exchange Operations. The rule concerns the sums remaining after tuition, housing and living costs have been paid; a student who returned on 1 November must therefore transfer their balance within the following 60 days, Bladi specifies.
A separate deadline applies to a rental deposit when it was financed by a transfer from Morocco. Its refund must be repatriated within 60 days of the end of the tenancy, or used to pay rent and charges still owed, according to the Office des Changes cited by Bladi.
