Football: Hamza Igamane could return to Lille in December

Lille’s Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane could return to competition in December after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. He has begun the final phase of his individual training before gradually resuming team training, Lille coach Davide Ancelotti said at a press conference.

Hamza Igamane, Lille’s 24-year-old striker, could return to competition in December after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. “Maybe we’ll see him back in competition by December,” Lille coach Davide Ancelotti said at a press conference ahead of the Ligue 1 match against AS Monaco, Le Matin reports.

The Morocco international is in the final phase of his individual training before gradually resuming team training. His return will then depend on how many team sessions he completes and on clearance from the medical staff, Davide Ancelotti said.

Igamane has been out since January, after suffering an injury in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final. Before the injury, he had scored nine goals and provided two assists in 18 appearances for Lille during the first half of the 2025-2026 season, according to Le Matin.

A possible return in December could also allow him to play in the knockout stage of the Champions League if Lille qualify for the play-offs or the round of 16. However, he has already missed the competition’s league phase, Le Matin reports.
