Club sportif sfaxien (CSS) qualified for the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday by beating Ivory Coast’s Académie Amadou Diallo 1-0 in Sfax. Iyed Belouafi scored the only goal in the seventh minute, according to Lapresse.

CSS secured qualification with this victory after a 1-1 draw in the first leg the previous week in Abidjan. Espérance sportive de Zarzis, the other Tunisian representative in the competition, was instead eliminated by Real de Bamako after a 3-1 defeat in the second leg and a 2-2 draw in the first leg, Lapresse reports.

The qualification extends the Sfax club’s run, after it reached the second qualifying round of the Confederation Cup on 13 September. CSS had subsequently prepared for this match with Mohamed Kouki, presented as its coach, on 16 October in the Sfax club’s preparation for its CAF Confederation Cup match.
