Kenyan police deny imposing a curfew in Likoni after the death of a county enforcement officer and the wounding of a police officer on 26 October. Security forces are still searching for the AK-47 rifle that went missing during the incident, according to Tuko.
Kenyan police have denied imposing an 6pm curfew in Likoni, in Mombasa County. Ali Nuno, the coastal region’s police commander, said on Friday 30 October 2026 that residents could continue their normal activities, according to Tuko.
The clarification came after the death on 26 October of a county enforcement officer and injuries inflicted on a police officer. An AK-47 rifle also went missing during the incident. Security forces have intensified targeted operations to find those responsible and recover the weapon, Ali Nuno said.
The regional commander described the attack as an isolated criminal act and asked residents not to share unverified information circulated on social media. He said the ongoing operations did not concern law-abiding citizens, according to Tuko.
