Central Equatoria’s interim governor, Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani, has urged host communities and displaced people in Mangalla to resolve tensions over land and insecurity through dialogue. He promised to strengthen cooperation with the authorities in Jonglei State, Eye Radio reports.

The interim governor of Central Equatoria State, General Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani, on Saturday called on host communities and internally displaced people in Mangalla to favour dialogue and peaceful coexistence. He was speaking during a visit to Mangalla Town Payam, in Yamba Boma, amid tensions over land disputes and insecurity, Eye Radio reports.

Residents reported alleged land grabbing, child abductions attributed to criminals from the Greater Pibor area, and an inadequate police deployment. Augustino Jadalla promised to work with the relevant institutions and consult his counterpart in Jonglei State to improve security on the Juba–Bor road, where ambushes have been reported. He also asked security forces to maintain order without interfering in the administration of the payam.

The appeal comes as the interim government prepares for elections and seeks to unite the state’s communities. The governor had previously called for electoral dialogue in Central Equatoria on 5 October, then promised peaceful elections in December on 14 October.
