Kenya Power plans up to eight hours of power cuts on 5 November in five counties, notably to maintain the network and connect new customers. The interruptions, scheduled from 9am to 5pm, affect residential and commercial areas, according to Kenya’s public electricity company.

Kenya Power, Kenya’s public electricity company, plans up to eight hours of outages on Thursday 5 November in five counties for maintenance, network modernisation and connecting new customers, Tuko reports.

The interruptions are scheduled between 9am and 5pm. In Nairobi, they will notably affect areas of Westlands and Ngong Road, while Kisii County is also affected in the areas of Gesusu and Masimba, according to a Kenya Power notice. The company said the work also aims to replace ageing infrastructure in areas affected by roadworks.

Kenya Power publishes these notices under Rule 27 of Kenya’s electricity regulations, which requires users to be informed before scheduled interruptions. The company had already announced up to eight hours of outages on Sunday, on 31 October.
